My family AND I will not be attending the Texas State Fair this YEAR unless the recently announced policy of not allowing law abiding citizens to protect themselves is rescinded.
Unfortunately, the City of Dallas has chosen to prioritize the desires of criminals to rob, rape, murder and harm citizens, at will, over the God given rights of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves.
You ask: “Why would they do this?” Answer: In 2023, a criminal illegally smuggled a gun onto the fairgrounds through a hole in the fence. Instead of closing that hole and taking actions to further prevent criminals from illegally having weapons on the fairgrounds, fair authorities decided to take away guns legally carried by law abiding citizens to defend themselves. And the hole in the fence is still there
It is with great concern that I must warn my fellow Texans about the reckless and short-sighted decision made by Texas State Fair organizers to prohibit firearms within the fairgrounds. This decision, driven by misguided policies and secretive maneuvers, not only jeopardizes the safety of law-abiding citizens but encourages the very criminals who prey on defenseless families wishing to enjoy an American pastime.
The recent revelation that fair organizers have banned guns while establishing a secret entrance for selected individuals is not just a slap in the face to our Second Amendment rights—it is a clear and present danger to everyone attending the fairground events. Without the means to defend themselves, fairgoers and their families are left vulnerable to those who wish to do them harm. Criminals have always sought out “gun-free zones” as easy and vulnerable targets. They will undoubtedly seize this opportunity, knowing they will face little to no resistance to stopping their intentions to hurt others.
It is appalling that in the name of so-called “safety,” the Fair’s leadership has effectively invited chaos and danger into the DNA of what is supposed to be a wholesome family activity. The only beneficiaries of this dangerous policy will be criminals who now know they have free rein to rob, rape, and overall harm without fear of encountering an armed citizen prepared to protect their loved ones and community. The notion that additional security measures or the presence of law enforcement can adequately compensate for the removal of the public’s right to bear arms is not only naïve but fundamentally flawed – additionally leaving law enforcement at risk.
The Constitution enshrines the right to self-defense, and we must fiercely oppose any attempt to curtail this right under the guise of public safety. Families should be able to enjoy public fairs and gatherings without fearing for their safety; these events should not become sanctuaries for those seeking to cause harm by exploiting “gun-free zones” as opportunities for chaos. In alignment with these principles, I have signed the letter addressed to the State Fair of Texas Board of Directors, urging them to reconsider their policy banning law-abiding citizens from carrying firearms at the State Fair. This policy undermines the safety it aims to protect, as evidenced by the statistics highlighted in our communication.
While this disastrous policy is in effect, I urge every Texan to reconsider attending the Texas State Fair. While the festivities may seem enticing, we must remember that our safety and the safety of our families are paramount. By attending, we put ourselves at risk and tacitly endorse a policy that undermines our freedoms and endangers our communities.
Let us send a clear message to the fair organizers and anyone else thinking “gun-free-zones” are safe. The only people safe in a “gun-free-zone” are the criminals who want rob, rape, murder and harm people without fear of retaliation from a law abiding citizen legally armed and exercising their GOD given right to self-defense. Texans will not stand for policies that strip away our rights and put our citizens in harm’s way. It is time for us to take a stand, not just for ourselves, but for the principles that make our state and nation great. The Texas State Fair may be a beloved tradition, but it is only as valuable as it is safe to participate in.
As we navigate these challenging times, we must remain steadfast in defending our GOD given, and Constitutional confirmed rights. I will continue to advocate for protecting our freedoms and for policies that ensure the safety and well-being of all Texans. Together, we can ensure that Texas remains a state where liberty and security go hand in hand.
It is time for the Texas Legislature, to do their duty, and eliminate all GUN-FREE-ZONES IN TEXAS.
